RM Photography bio picture
  • Welcome to RM Photography!

Hi folks! My name is Rebecca Manney, and I'm glad you stopped by the new RM Photography site. This is where I post my sneak peeks, moments of reminiscing, and random thoughts. And trust me, I can be pretty random.

RM Photography is located in Yukon, OK, but available for travel both nationally and internationally. I have a very photojournalistic style. I like to keep things casual, fun, and low-stress.

You can find out more about me and my photography style on the About Rebecca page.

If you are considering my services, be sure to check out all the helpful links under "Goodies" up there. Please feel free to click the Contact link and drop me an email if you still have questions. Also, to see more examples of my work, be sure to visit my old blog.

I hope you enjoy the site!

Ashley + Kendon

It’s always fun to photograph people I know. I have a better understanding of their personalities and tendencies which I use to my advantage when trying to capture the essence of the person. Usually. But this one, well…it was just a little bit different.

Ashley is my little cousin. My tiny little innocent cousin. She shouldn’t even be dating boys yet, let alone getting married. But apparently, time flies and she’s no kid anymore. She’s a beautiful young woman who has found a pretty fantastic guy who had better take good care of her. Or else. Just kidding. Sort of.

Photographing a couple is the perfect way to get a feel for their connectedness. (connectedness…is that a word? I like the sound of it, so I’m using it either way.) It’s cute to see them interact timidly at first. It’s awkward to have this person following you around, rolling on the ground, snapping pictures of your every movement. Not to mention, there was that whole “she’s my older cousin!” dynamic as well. But as the session progressed, they got more and more comfortable.

It’s easy to see that these two are crazy about each other!

Natalie + David | 2010 Showcase Wedding

Natalie texted me the night she got engaged. It went something like this, “I’M ENGAGED!!!!!! Now hold the month of June until I figure out a date.”

Now, this couple is one photogenic pair. Their first engagement session was the weekend after the proposal, then the second a few months later when the fall leaves were at their finest. They would have done another had we been able to meet up while it was snowing.

You can really tell these two are meant to be. Their wedding pictures are a testament to that. Thanks again to Natalie and David for allowing me to capture the special moments of your day!

The Big Announcement

Well folks, it’s official. After lots of prayerful consideration, I’ve resigned my position at SWOSU to begin shooting photography full time. It’s a huge, stressful step, but it’s exactly what I want.

I’ve absolutely loved my time at SWOSU–all 9 years of it. I started my SWOSU journey as a freshman in 2001, and ended it with 4 years as a recruiter for the Admissions and Recruitment Office. It’s been grand!

But on to bigger and better things. More importantly, on to following my passion and my heart. My interest in photography started about 4 years ago when my husband got me a new digital camera, and has continuously grown since; From the old Cannon G6 I used for my first few shoots of family and friends, to the current Canon 5D and multiple lenses, lighting equipment, and even a humble little studio in my home.

I finally reached a point where I was too busy with my photography business to continue working full time, but still hesitant that I’d have enough work to keep me consistently busy. At some point, you just have to take that blind step of faith. It’s nerve-wracking, unsettling, and thrilling all at the same time.

I was lucky to have also found a bit of a cushion. I worked out a deal with a local studio to contract out for them for school and event photos. They plan to keep me good and busy 2-3 days a week, which will leave plenty of time for me to grow my own business. Pretty perfect, huh?

So what does this mean for me? I have an additional 2-3 days a week for my own photography business where I can schedule weekday shoots, edit photos, reduce my processing time, and work on a better marketing and business plan. Oh, it also means I might get a few evenings and weekends back since that was when I did all of my editing. My husband will be happy about that!

So that’s the big announcement! Exciting, isn’t it? You bet it is. Now let’s get this party started!

Cox Wedding | Sneak Peek

Ah, weddings. I love them.

A quick look at the beautiful wedding of Leah and Joseph last Saturday in Woodward, OK. Just a few, because I like making mommas happy.:)

Elijah | 9 Months

I’ve been taking Elijah’s picture since he was 3 months old. From that first shoot, I knew he was one of the cutest babies around. I distinctly remember telling his mom, “man, this kid is cute enough to almost make me want one. Almost.” And those blue eyes…he’s gonna be a heart breaker. Now, sometimes smiles are hard to come by, but this cutie is never short on facial expressions.

Thanks again to Carissa and her mom for making the almost 80 mile trip so I can take Elijah’s pictures. It’s been fun to watch Elijah grow!
